Brooks welcomes announcement that Notley High School and Braintree Sixth Form Centre will become an Academy

8th August 2011

Brooks today welcomed the announcement from the Department of Education that the Secretary of State Michael Gove has agreed to enter into a funding agreement to allow Notley High School and Braintree Sixth Form Centre to convert into an Academy.

Brooks said: “I am delighted to hear that Notley High School and Braintree Sixth Form Centre are to become an Academy. Academies are a key part of this Government’s education policy and help to improve outcomes for all children, and to spread positive results to all schools. We believe that Academy status is best for schools and best for pupils. Academy status puts power back into the hands of heads and allows teachers to focus on teaching. I am very pleased to see these policies having an impact in Braintree.”
